Starter removal on 94 LT1
Is it possible to replace a starter on a 1994 Camaro Z28 without dropping the y-pipe? I'm very nervous about dropping the y-pipe because the bolts holding it to the manifold are pretty rusted and corroded.

i did mine on a 96 with shortys and left everything there... i know you have that single cat system so its all going to be in your way, but if i remember my shortys ran the same way as your stock exhaust setup.. either way, only one way to find out just try it!

(at jay) Thanks. And yeah... that's usually how I do things, but I've got pressure to get this fixed ASAP, and I don't want to waste time working at it if I won't be able to get it.
(at ram air) Yeah... I noticed. It's quite the cluster**** under there.

Starter removal
First off never mind the repair manuels. They say Remove y pipe ,convertor etc...Just remove the torque convertor inspection cover on trans (4 bolts 10mm ) remove starter bolts etc..,then slide starter threw opening by tranny lines backwards towards the rear end ,that is what i done on my 1994 Camaro z 28 350 automatic and there was lots of room for starter removal this way for me . Hope this helps to whom ever reads .
