It is possible that the housing/case of the reluctor and sensor may be from the same manufacturer, thus having the same part number. But the stuff that actually performs the function...very different
No BS I have pictures to prove on the other thread "just got my opti from Chandler motorsports" or something like that. Ill post the pics here tonight when I get out of work.

No the cms unit DOES NOT HAVE THE MITSUBISHI SENSOR. It does have a reluctor wheel ( the disk with the little slots cut in it for the optical sensor to read. Not sure it that's what its called) with the same part number stamped on it as my stock AC delco opti has. The Mitsubishi sensor from the AC delco opti does bolt right up to the cms unit, they are built identical with the exception of the Mitsubishi sensor.

That's pretty much what I just said. The Delco has a Mitsu sensor, the CMS does not. The reluctor wheel and housing may be the same, but it's the sensor that matters.

So why call BS on me? I never said it had a mitsu sensor. Just the wheel had the same part #

i think it is the sensor that gives the most problems. the aftermarket sensors seem to fail a lot sooner than the mitsu sensors.

just so everyone knows, the rich porter opti sucks. went out about 30 miles after it was installed. thats too bad because it looked like a nice piece. came with a harness and everything. bought me a brand new ac delco for 350 from my buddy that works parts at a dealership, we'll see how this goes

Go to Summit Racing.com and check the Optis. I bought mine Genuine A/C Delco like 3 years ago and is working excellent. I guess Summit have the Accel cap/rotor too and a MSD but the tag price is hard. Hope that help. See ya bro.
