the smoke looks black with alittle blue, smells like gas

no not yet i dont have a obd1 scanner

coolant level is fine

opti was bought on ebay, chandler motorsports 3 years ago

1200 on the bottom end

idles at 1200 then drops to like 200 barely idles, i have to give it gas to keep it running, sounds like its braking up and it back fires.

not yet, all the symtoms sound like ignition, i think whats happening is the opti is not giving out enough spark and the motor is getting to much fuel. i boght a opti from advance due to its life time warrenty im gonna install tomorrow its suppose to be good weather, not to cold.

im moving back to tampa fl next week so i have to get this car running, due to the cold i havent messed with it since dec lol

check the harness that goes from the harness on the front left passenger side down to the opti.. make sure the clip is on there and it has that little washer on it.. those are notorious for going bad and letting in moisture... have you descreened the maf? i did mine and those little sensors (3 I think) one of them got broken from debris.. and it killed my maf.. take off your ingntion module and have it tested and make sure if it was replaced that the heat sink was properly secured to it.. that module can work enough to run but the saturation point is not up to par.. pull those two things first since theyre the easiest.. Maf then module / coil then harness.. the harness sucks to get off.. a long skinny *** flat heat to reach the clip release and needle nose to pull from as deep as possible.. make sure there is not green **** on the connectors.. (i doubt it is this tho) if all of those are fine, pull the opti.. if it is vented, pull the vac line on bottom first and stick a tooth pic inside the opti about a half an inch and in the hose and see if it comes out clean...

the blue smoke is not a good sign.. but black is fuel so its getting gas just not lighting it... pull a couple of the easiest plugs and check them too... From experience your problem comes from the opti...

Chandler Motorsports Opti? If you do get a scanner look for a "Low Resolution Voltage to Opti" should be a code 16. Thats usually the code the opti gives off before it takes a dump. I'm surprised the Chandler opti went this far.

i just changed the opti and nothing changed, it started idling rough so i unhooked the map and it started idling better, so i went to advance and bought a new map. then my brother called said it could be the sensor under the water pump bc its over loading on fuel, so we unhooked it and started to idle back to normal and was running fine. so i took back the maf and put the old one back on and i changed the sensor under the water pump and tried to crank it now its back fring like hell.

i also tried to check the codes with a paper clip and it wasnt flashing anything. not sure if it makes a difference but the car was off when i tried to check the codes.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3CzHCfz-9A

clip only workes on 93 94 and possible but unlikely on 95... thats the year they were upgrading to obdII most of our fbody 95s were loosely called obd 1.5... has obd1 port but upgraded to II'ish software...

You went and spent all that money before you even read the stored codes????? That does not make any sence at all! Your just throwing parts at the car in hopes it fixes itself. This could be a bad o2 sensor giving bad reading and causing over fuel issues, PCM could be bad as well. without proper diag throwing parts at it wont help you wallet or the car. Instead of changing everything at once try one part at a time. You said i put a new MAF and unhooked the coolant temp sensor and car Idled normal again, so i put my MAF back on and changed the CTS and now runs like crap again, Well the MAF reads the incoming air and the PCM uses this for fuel. did you clean the MAF sensor at all? this would cause an idle issue if it caint read the air correct.
