You certainly have an uphill battle with this one. Obviously get the car running well first to address those misfiring, backfiring issues you mentioned. That will help but won't get you to your power goals.

Do you have plans for boost in the future? If so, then just make sure your parts selection will compliment your goals. If not, you may be better off tearing into the engine and replacing the pistons to bring the CR back up. While you are there, heads can get worked over along with the cam.

I'm sure you don't want to do all of this but its simply a mismatched combo unless you want to go boost in which a new cam and exhaust would get you by.

Aside from all the reasons this is a train wreck that have already been discussed have you tried running it without the MSD crap?? They don't call it Might Suddenly Die for no reason atall.

Once you get it running right I thing you are going to be disappointed, this is an ignorant bench racers wet dream but in no way resembles builds that actually work.

msd is not yet installed as per above. I just bought it only the coil is in. As far as the backfire I am hoping it is a combo of the old plugs and maybe a bad wire??

i think if you would put an 88mm turbo in it and get a cam from bullet it would go from a sub-par combo to a great combo.

I was discussing with a couple of guys that ran the dyno about a remote mount turbo they said that would be the easiest thing to do and would allow me to utilize the exhaust set up the way it is.
