Steam Pipe

I am doing the headgaskets on my friends 94 Formula.
The steam pipe has been broken at some point in the past and rejoined using a short length of rubber hose behind the drivers side head.
Good idea? Bad idea? Replacement is not easy considering I am located in the UK.
Thoughts and opinions?

as long as its connected and stable and not leaking i dont see an issue with it

Thanks both.
My friends budget is low so unless it has to replaced we won't bother.
I'll just make sure the rubber hose is in good condition and go for re-assembly.
