Default Gen 1 SBC guys inside

Trying to do some homework. Anyone got back to a gen 1? I currently debating whether or not I should do it. Anyone have any pics of a Gen 1 in an LT-1? Can you share with me any problems you might have ran into?

Things I can think of off the top of my head are clearance issues with carb, so a new hood is in order.

Rear mount distributer. Cowel will need cut or a shallow mount distributer is in place.

I would imagine the LT-1 bracket accesory bracket will work?

What would control the fans?

What do I need to control gauges?

You would be better off using the "crab" style distributor of a 96+ vortec 350,i'm pretty positive that they fit under the cowel.
And I'm not sure your accessories would work, you would have to get an electric waterpump since LT1 WP's are gear driven.
One question I have to ask is why?

Because I might buy my old Z back. The car has been a roller for two years now. I can get my hands on a kick *** 406 (Callies crank, oliver pro billet rods, brodix heads w/ jesel setup, etc....for a real nice price. The motor would put out alot of power, and would be more cost efficient. The wife and I are currently building a house. The offer of getting the car back came at the wrong time, but im getting the car back for a grand. It only needs and engine/trans....in which it already comes with (lt1/4l60e). I just have to put it in, which is fine. My problem is, im not up for it being stock. Cant have that! I guess the purpose of this thread is to give me some pros/cons to it.

SBC has the radiator inlet/outlet the opposite of an LT1. I've never heard of anyone adapting LT1 accessory drives to an SBC. Not saying it doesn't work, but all of the SBC retrofit 4th gens i've seen use any standard SBC accessories. You'd have to put the LT1 balancer/hub onto the SBC crank to be sure that the distance away from the block is exactly the same. I'm also not sure if the belt setup will clear an SBC water pump (I think it will, not positive though). A 4" cowl hood will clear just about any car setup you will run.
