Default Tranny Question
Trying to c what is the best tranny for my setup. I got 396 lt1 street and strip car. Which tranny would hold up for the longest. A built 4l60e or a built th400 or 350

we need to know more, how much street how much strip highway or grocery getter what rear end gears, the 350 and 400 iirc are both 3 speeds so you would lose 4th gear

i think th400s are the strongest but th350s are lighter, I eventually am gonna go th400 rvmb with shift kit and transbrake in my car

the 400 is a very good tranny when built correct

IMO unless you're runnin over 1000fwhp a th400 is uselsess.....a strong built th350 is ligther, takes less to spin, and WILL last.....ive got a built 4L60E in mine and ive been beating the snot out of it fo 3 years now.......im making well over 600fwhp on mine and been running in the low 10's conisistanly with it.........and the best part is with a lock up over drive trans i can still cruise down the highway at 80mph with out baking the trans or motor.....
