well yes of course, I was just defending slicks. They get a bad rap a lot of the time because people don't know what they are talking about.

Auto car with a 10-bolt can get away with a good sticky tire far more than a manual.

this is extremely true, my buddy has an ls1 that just ran an 11.4 last weekend. stock 10 bolt with 3.73s and he lifts his drive side wheel a couple inches off the ground. he's had tons of 11.5-11.6 with 1.5-1.6 60 foots on that set-up, hasn't broken yet! he's running et street dr's

yet some how my slow *** car breaks the gears on the street on bald street tires

Doesn't matter how much torque you have, the shock to the driveline can wreak havoc if the necessary parts aren't used.

I ran 13.0 @ 105 with boltons and ported heads with the stock stall. I'm sure the 3.73's would have been more than enough to get me safely in the 12's. 3.73's and the crane 227 netted me a 12.56@111.0 with a slipping tranny and still on the stock converter.

yeah it was a sketchy transmission rebuild that did it in i'm pretty sure. the 1-2 shift after i got it back almost gave you whiplash everytime it shifted, had to have been putting a lot of shock on the rearend. After the transmission broke twice and was then out of warranty i took it to my buddy (^mentioned above) and had him build it up for me. no problems since!

3600+ stall
longtubes
drag radials. (or traction for you argumentative types.)
That should just about do it.

Or do I need to show a car in south florida running 8's in his camaro on DR's?

Slicks break parts....and for 12s...it's not worth it
Reading is fundamental.

OP specifically said no nitrous or slicks. Since everyone decided nitrous would be the best suggestion, I decided to throw the slicks in there too. You know, a joke???

So tell him to get DR's.

Slicks are worthless IMO for a street car

Remove everyhting that will unbolt from the car, get it down to about 2500 pounds and that will do it....

No nitrous or slicks.
Step 1: Get rid of flowmaster...
Step 2: Long Tubes w/ a GOOD flowing exhaust or a cutout
Steps 3 thru the rest of them: Stall; Suspension; Tune; Some kind of a sticky tire...make use of the power u have and put it to the ground.

If this doesn't get you there, look into 1.6 RRs and putting her on a diet. Should get you there.

I am running 13.40s N/A in 5500 DAs with Open Long Tubes, and stock everything else. I am on a sticky tire with skinnies up front also.
