I wouldn't reccommend using them. F bodys are tight enough trying to sneek the header in. Why do you want them? There's no real benefit to them that I can see anyway.

thats what i was thinking... but what do you mean no benefit??? have you ever tried puting long tube headers on while holding a gasket with copper silocone on it? it not easy!! with the studs you can slide the gasket on there without it slipping around and trying to get it lined up. It would be way easier, just wasnt sure if there was enough room to do it.

Nah- Fel-Pro 1406s have the 'ears' on the ends. Get the front & rear header bolts started and drop the gasket in. Then get the other 4 bolts in and tighten them down. No goop, nothing else... I use Mr. Gasket split washers for a little extra assurance against bolts backing out.

I used the Fel pros that were suggested above and had no issue with the leaking. The little ears on them are very handy as well to keep everything lined up to go on.

I've used Felpro 1406s with the hooks on the ends for 11 years now. I agree with Gojira - hanging the gasket on the outer bolts makes life much easier. I would think studs would be an absolute pain in the ****.

No RTV. That **** just makes a mess. Most every header gasket is made so that RTV is not needed (compression). I just like to clean up the head flange with some sandpaper to texture it slightly, bolt on the gasket/header, and tighten from the inside out. Never had a leak.

I also only use the gasket. A big cause of header leaks is improperly tightened hardware or low quality hardware. I use the arp stainless 12pts with no leak issues.
