engine bay 12v switched power source

engine bay 12v switched power source

is there an easy wire to tap in the engine bay? one that comes on only with the key?

Do any of the emissions components have a switched 12v power source I can steal easily? i dont have any need for the emissions stuff. like the evap solenoid? which wire gives it power and is it tied in with the ignition?

There are several in the fuse box, namely PCM/IGN among others. But do not power accessories directly. You can use them in conjunction with a relay.

Would I then need to find a switched power source in the engine bay to wire the relay to? are there no 12v ignition switched power sources in the engine bay that i can directly tap? Where are the wires that lead to the cigarette lighters coming from aren't they routed through the engine bay? oh and thanks. sorry if I sound stupid i'm new to electrical stuff.

The underhood fuse box has a PCM/BAT fuse. You can tap into that. Then wire that in conjunction with a relay and the 12v+ post on the passenger side fender.

Thanks for the help, I actually used the cruise/ac fuse location under the hood and ran that with a 10a fuse on it. it's switched by the ignition and It's short term anyway. thanks again
