solid roller my motor has a solid roller in it and im looking to step down a little since iti s a 265 273 @ .050 id like to step down to something like a 250ish cam. can i use any old SBC cam? or does it need to be LT1 specific? |
I have a Joe O spec'd LT1 billet erson solid roller cam for sale if you are interested. The specs are 257 266 @.050 106lsa .640 lift intake and exhaust with 1.6 rockers. I have the exact figures if you are interested. The cam was installed but never used as I went a different route with the engine. $200 shipped. T oanswer your question. It will need to be LT1 specific cam as I believe the front of the cam is a little different. |
You can use a traditional SBC roller cam. You'll just have to get it machined for the optispark. The cam I have is a mild Cam Motion cam. Specs are 248/250 .650/.610 on a 112 lsa. |

here is the rest of the combo..... 383 AFR 210 heads 13:1 compression srp pistons eagle H beams eagle forged crank th400 stall TBD 3.25 gears 325-50-15 mt et street radials 80% street car |
thats part of the reason for stepping down in cam the 265 273 @ .050 cam is to big for what i want to do with the car. that and the 2 bolt block even with ARP bolts i don't think will like to be shifted 7500 + like the heads and cam will want. |
newbie question i guess, whats the advantages to going solid roller? valvetrain? do the lifters collapse or something? if so i thought theyre were companies out there making stronger parts for high revs? |
what rockers are you solid roller guys using ?? |
Shaft here |
mine has stud mount 1.5 with a girdle |

The reason for the gear is it was going to be a boosted sbc now it is a lt1 later it will be a boosted ls |

3.25 sounds like a 9" gear for sure... I'd be swapping that out in a hurry  |
