Default Muffler Position

When I originally had my duals done it was dumped before the axle but now its over the axle and out the rear. This summer I'm going to be making a few tweaks to the exhaust and redo how its mounted and been toying around with the idea of moving my muffers from in front of the axle to behind it near the tips. What kind of change in sound would this create?

If you dont need the ground clearance I wouldnt worry with it. Lot of work if ya ask me. I dont remember hearing any sound difference when my friend moved his.

A long time ago I remember someone telling me that the farther back (towards the end of the exhaust) you move the mufflers the less cackle and pop your will get. But I have never heard a difference in all my cars when I moved them around.
