Yes you can do that. Forged rods and pistons with the stock crank will make for a very stout 355 that can take a lot of power and a good amount of rpm. the LT4 top end will make for a mild street set up off the nitrous and with a healthy 200 shot you'd beat pretty much anything on the street.
Then later on down the road when you have more money, you can port the heads and get a custom grind cam.
What you need to do to ensure proper fit of the cylinder is get your pistons with a slight overbore, take them with your block to a shop and tell them you want the block bored to fit those specific pistons. That way you are SURE the pistons fit properly and you KNOW nothing is wrong.
If you just get a stock sized piston and make it work, you are playing with fire IMO.
