anyone else have this problem after a Longtube install? any recommendations on keeping the engine bay cool? If i were to heat wrap the headers would i have to take it off first?

 

Do you have coated headers?
You really want to avoid header wrap. It not only ruins the headers after time but can also soak up oil,gas or whatever gets on them and catch fire. I know the turbo guys use it but it is still another potential hazzard.

I run stainless uncoated long tubes and dont appear to have any excessive underhood temps.

OP. What makes you think you have excessive underhood temps? How did you measure them?

 

Headers always increase underhood temps due to the increase in exhaust surface area.

 

I didn't measure them butttt it being less than 70* out and the engine bay being as hot as it was it seemed abnormal to me... and for me to touch anything in the engine bay including the k&n cold air intake, it felt like i just put my hand on a hot *** stove...maybe it's just me but i was just a little concerned to feel so much heat, i feel like it's going to rob me of some power lol

 

You can remove the rubber seal that sits on the plastic cowling to help evacuate heat.
