Default Does anyone know what this thing is? Need some help.

Does anyone know what this thing in the pictures is? It is on my 97 camaro SS, under the front passenger side frame rail, right in front of the sway bar mount and right under the battery/coolant reservoir. It appears to be vaccum related since the only thing running in or out is a small hollow line that goes into the main wiring harness. I posted this in the vehicle specific area, but had no luck. Thanks in advance if you can help me out.

That's your vacuum canister. It goes to a check valve near the pcm and gets vacuum from the intake manifold near the vacuum port for the FPR. It has a line out of the check valve that goes into the passenger compartment for the HVAC system.

Thank you very much. Is it ok to splice this line with a vaccum line coupling? I was cleaning up some rust from a leaky battery and nicked it with the wire wheel brush.

I broke the fitting on mine. Ordered some aluminum online, welded it up, powdercoated it! No more broken brittle plastic. This piece will last longer than the car. You can see it, it's the smaller black piece in the upper part of the photo.

I need to give a How to take a digital photo class for members here. The only thing in focus in that picture is the 1970's golf bag hanging on the wall in the background.

You know it's not Obama's golf bag, he is using his way too much to be on the wall. Everytime I turn on the news he is off playing golf somewhere.
