Funny enough.. The formal name for it is dinitrogen monoxide. Calling it Nitrous is still an informal name. A chemist would laugh at you calling it nitrous, like you're laughing at me calling it NOS...

All in all..we all know what each of us is referring to..

as far as what route to take whether it be h/c, n2o, supercharger, turbo, etc. all have their strong points and weaknesses. ultimately its up to what the owner wants, not what the "best" single path that everyone should take is, because that answer is not as universal as some might make it seem to be.
Thanks. Turns out it's illegal here, and would probably just equate to being a pain.

The correct term for general use is Nitrous oxide. when referring to water do you say H - 2 - O. or do you say dihydrogen monoxide. He is laughing because NOS is a brand name and not a term for N20.

Yes, i know it's a brand name. And yea, sometimes I mess up and accidentally call facial tissue "Kleenex" or frozen treats on a stick "popsicles" and sterile adhesive strips "bandaids"..

My apologies for being the only one to ever do this.

Toss a set of le2 heads on it and a custom cam with supporting mods and you should be way over 375. But it will take more than just a strong motor to go fast.

So I'd imagine the car should be pretty quick, but nothing a built 383 or 355 with good heads and cam should be able to handle but as everyone else has stated it's gonna cost big bucks. How many miles on your current engine, if you are near or over 140K I would rebuild it. Get good light forged pistons and 6" Scat or Eagle H beam rods, 4340 forged crank or re-use your stock crank, get LE or AI to port n polish your stock heads and intake and a custom cam to match, long tube headers, cai, bigger injectors, a tune and a 150 shot and see if your stang friend can keep up. Also get a converter since you have an A4.
ma engine has 0miles just rebuilt

Ahh, I see you are making the best use of search engines at your disposal.

Sorry, that logic is flawed. You know well enough that we are not chemists here, and so to talk to a chemist about an item that is used for street racing, only to have him laugh at me for not using the 'scientific term', isn't very likely, nor does it make sense. A biologist wouldn't laugh at me for using the term 'man', instead of 'homo sapien'.

'Nitrous' is its formal name. We weren't talking about its scientific name

I think we got over this yesterday. The internet is the only place someone will complain and argue with you for using "Kleenex" instead of facial tissue, and then drag it on the next day talking about flawed logic.
