If it was tested on a Comp TA I think that would back up your beliefe that it was a Level II car correct? Weren't the BFG's an up option?

I know the hardtop and t-top SS models received 17X9 wheels and BFG Comps as standard. I think the verts got a 16" ZR1 style wheel, but not sure what tire.
What really sucked is there was a BFG R1 option available. Four R1 tires on four ZR1 wheels for $1000 and I failed to get it.

It was the R1s I was thinking about because I remember people used to post pictures of the two sets of wheels with their SS' and I think Comp T/As too.

I'm sure with those tires the car could do well in the .9g range.

I would hope R-compound tyres would be well over the 1g range.

How come everyone is always so quick to point out the 90* bend in the SS air intake, but they don't seem to admit that all the other CAI (LS1 Lid swaps excluded) also make a 90* which is pretty pinched on most I've seen?

I'm not saying that they are better, or just as good even. Just that I don't see how the bends are that bad on the real SLP systems. Now the aftermarket copies I have seen from Suncoast & others look like they are alot worse. The original 90's have large, smooth curves to them whereas the aftermarket set-ups have very sharp turns. Look at the underhood pic above and compare it to one. There is no wonder they get a bad rep when alot of people are using pics of aftermarket systems as examples. Also, the original parts have shielding to eliminate alot of the heat soak issues mentioned.

I agree that the scoop is not high enough to pic up alot of true ram air, but I don't see my K&N CAI or my Moroso CAI getting any ram air from the fenderwell either....unless I were to do that "free ram air" mod with the lil scoop hanging down. That looks only safe for track use to me.
