I didnt thread the oil galley plugs behind the cam, One of them blew out on the fresh motor(my old 355) and wedged between the waterpump gear on the cam, and the water pump drive gear. It locked the cam gear up..That was the end result from cruising about 2500-2800 rpm down the highway.

Needless to say all my oil galley plugs are threaded now.

Pulled the pan cleaned out the debris. Put it back together went to the track and ran low twelves and put another 10,000 miles on it before the new engine went it.

No dice, for some reason at WOT oil pressure drops instead of climbing! Yanking this thing out next month for some freshening up.

What kind of pump is it, and have you put a mechanical gauge on it?

It's a Melling High-Pressure, standard Volume.

Is the Oil full?
