Default ATI Damper 917270

Hey guys got my motor ready to go in and had my damper i scooped up for real cheap put on at the engine shop. I was told i needed to run the spacer on a 93-95 vs not having to use one if i had a 96-97. The engine builder put the damper on without the spacer as he said it looked like it sat pretty far out and looked like it didnt need it from looking at another lt1 car in the shop. He said he would come out to my place after i mocked it up with the acc bracket and pulleys if i needed to run it. It is keyed but i but installed one since im not running a blower on this engine. He thinks it might be the wrong one if it doesnt line up? Anyone else running this damper have input on this before i go to the shop and mock it up? If i have to part with im not worried as i got it for dirt cheap and ill make money on it if i sell it worst scenario.

Thanks!

I didn't run any spacers on the ATI, install it with the key and a good install tool.

The spacer keeps the belt lined up for cars that do not have reluctor rings.

So unless you have a 96-97 LT1 or have completed a 24x conversion, you really should have it.

See their website:

Look at note #7 listed under F-Body LT1 and PN: 917270

http://www.atiracing.com/products/da...serp.htm#Fbody

As stated above you need the spacer if your not a 96-97 LT1. I picked up a used ATI super damper for my build and when I called ATI to order my o-ring rebuild kit I asked them about the spacer and they confirmed what their website stated. The spacer is provided for 93-95 LT1 without the crank position sensor reluctor ring to position the damper in the correct alignment for your accessories.

Give them a call, I'm sure they can hook you up with the spacer. They were very helpful when I called.

I have the spacer and told the builder that it should be used being the 93-95 and he said it stuck out pretty far so he thought it might be the wrong one and didnt put it in. I guess ill have to prob get him to come over with the tools to put it in. *****...

I have a Fluidampr, and they included a spacer for use on the '93-'95 cars, without the reluctor ring, and leave it out for the '96-'97 cars, per their instructions.
