Stick with the SLP CAI or something similar. The LS1 lid is a PITA as mentioned before and IMO looks like a big plastic piece of crap. That is all these cars need is more plastic on them. The SLP has smooth lines and looks much better IMO.

I have the SLP and what I did was seal the box and made my own scoop at the bottom out of sheetmetal much like the LS1 lid scoop. This helps me get air from the bottom and makes it easier to get to my filters. I get pleanty of air through this method. I have seen someone before add a puller fan on top of their scoop to pull the air in.

It probably took 5 or 6 hours to get it drivable again, but like I said it took a little bit to get it settled in. I like it because it still looks stock, and uses stock parts from the LS1 but gives a lot more power. I couldnt bring myself to buy another CAI with all of those bends and that long intake tube... doesnt seem very efficient to me.

I currently have the SLP CAI, have never had any problems with it, but all those bends doesn't seem efficeint to me neither. I'm gathering the parts for the LS1 lid swap myself. All I need is the SLP lid, and i'm ready to start cuttin. I just hope I do a good enough job to where it looks decent. Also planning to keep the AC condenser. Any good tips?

Sorry, I had to ditch the condenser to get mine to fit. It looks like you've got the SS hood, you would probably be better off getting the stock ss ram air? I'll take a picture of my radiator, but it's laid pretty far back. I had to secure the hoses so they wouldnt rub against the belt. I went through one upper radiator hose.... not fun.

As far as keeping it clean, you know what they say.. measure twice and cut once. I was thinking about using a file or something to round off the edges where it's cut to clean it up a little bit?
Also, when you're cutting the radiator mount, make sure to use some sandpaper to clean up the edges. Thats my biggest complaint of mine right now, I'm sure you can see in the picture. It looks like a 5 year old cut it with safety scissors haha Just needs a little more attention and it will look mint!
Give yourself some extra time as well. Anything custom is going to take longer than you originally think (or at least tell yourself that) because something is bound to come up and make it take longer. Just take your time and you'll have no problem at all.

I definately plan to give myself a full day on this. Did you cut your hood? I have the Ram air box, but that thing is worse than a stock airbox from what I read. (big bend plus heat soak).

I did not need to cut my hood. It might be because I took out the a/c condenser and was able to lower the top of the radiator more than others.

Ohh wow, I never read of anyone NOT cutting their hoods to do the LS1 lid swap. Hmm perhaps I might get rid of my condenser after all. The ac doesn't work anyways. Well if you decide to get the clear lid, give me a price on the SLP lid. ha ha

It does hit the under side of the hood, the first week or so it took a little bit to get the hood closed. Once everything settled under there it got much easier. I just did the front cover and seals on my engine so I had the radiator out so I was able to make a few small adjustments that really helped. It closes almost stock.
