ARP head stud ?

Ok so my guess is that im way over thinking this and am going to sounds retarded but here it goes..

I was reading the instructions last night and it says to simply hand tighten the studs into the head then put heads on and then tq the nuts down to 80ftlbs...

My question is, so i dont have to tq the studs down first in the block then tq the nuts?

I know this is very simple but this is my first time using them and also i have alot of money in this build and don't want to screw anything up...

Yep, you read it right. Once the nut goes on, that's when all the clamping force is applied.
