Default what timing set to run?

am trying to get my final components together so that i can start the assembly of my engine and am curious what timing set/sets you have all used and what works the best? i kind of dont want to go to an electric water pump but that seems to be what everyone is doing. really looking for some input from some of the LTx guys that have been in it for a while now. im also contemplating putting the reluctor wheel and using EFI Connections deeper cover to make a future upgrade easier on me. any ideas?

I'm not completely postive but If you switch to electric water pump than you dont have to get the lt1 timing set with the waterpump drive on the cam gear.

You don't give any details on your build...

But if you choose to go the EWP route (which there is no reason not to), go with the Cloyes 3145. It's a true double roller chain which will fit your 95 with only minor grinding behind the timing cover. This is the least expensive and most reliable route to take. Since you have a 95 it makes sense (no CPS reluctor ring to remove or sensor hole to plug).

what about gear drives? i rarely see where anyone has used one on an LTx motor. do they not clear? does the noise mess with the knock sensor?

They will drive the knock sensor crazy and I'm pretty sure they don't clear the stock cover.
