Input shaft seal?
Input shaft seal? So I decided to change the input shaft seal while I had the tranny out for the clutch. Easy enough, I took off the front cover for the tranny to swap it and did it in like 2 minutes. Now the problem lies in getting the front cover back on. I line up the pegs on the top and bottom but it won't slide down all the way. The bearings slide into place and so does the metal rod from the shifter. The only one not lining up is the other rod in there. I don't know what it's for so I don't know what to call it. Anyway is there anyway to get it to move so the front housing will go on?

Have you tried posting this question in the Drivetrain forum of LS1Tech?
Probably get better help over there-- a few of the guys in that section can tear down and rebuild a T56 with their eyes closed.
