Offer still good in a week or two? PM me if so and appropriate payment destination

I have seen magnaflows on a V6 Fcar, seemed like a nice exhaust system.
Yeah, If i was keeping it stock manifolds and cats it'd be the SLP. And if i had the funds it would be a borla.

Is it safe to say all the cat backs, with the exception of crapmaster flow decent? In particular the hooker?

just put in a bullet and dump it. you already have a catted Y so that will muffle it some and choose a bullet length depending on how loud you want it. i have a 12" case dynomax and it sounds awsome. if you want it a bit quieter go with something like a 22" thrush glasspack with a turndown after the Y
Total cost: under $50

Search for sickmak90 on YouTube. I posted a video of my old 95 z28 and my brothers 93 z28. We both have pacesetter lt's, ory and catbacks. Mine has a hooker and his has magnaflow. I like the hooker better, but both sound awesome and flow good.

That's awesome dude thanks. FROM THE VIDEO i'm liking the magnaflow... was one louder than the other in person? From the video i just like the magnaflow tone, and i'll be running Pacesetter LT's.

This cat back sounds much louder than my old flowmaster muffler. I know the flow may not be the best (chambered muffler) but I've always loved the sound on an LT1. I paid like $300 for my kit brand new about 3 years ago.
That's what i had back in the day, the 80 series set up. I actually just realized the thunder system and 80 series are different, dont read much into flowmaster. But can the thunder system really be that bad

EDIT: but summit has the flowmaster thunder cat back listed with an 80 series muffler, i friggin hate flowmaster

When you go the no cat route is it as simple as unplugging the wires/sensors and getting them tuned out? Haven't done much research on ditching my cats but it seems that'd be a heck alot easier.

One piece of literature said the american thunder system was NOT an 80 series but cross flow or chambered muffler, then another piece of lieterature said it WAS an 80 series.

I can tell you my old 80 series muffler (2.5 in & out) was tiny compared to this big honk'n muffler that came with the american thunder. I was completely satisfied with the new setup. Sounds like my old setup just louder. But Its not overly loud. I've heard people say its not loud at all and that I should get a loud mouth. these people must be deaf. For me its just right- loud enough so people know you are coming and look, but not ridiculously obnoxious like some of these stangs.

I'd put a magnaflow up to the flowmaster in terms of sound on an Lt1 - thats the other route I may have gone. But to me nothing beats a flowmaster. It just rumbles. I'm a little olde school like that (and I won't argue you might gain more HP from another setup - to me that didn't matter it was all about sound).
I agree the flowmaster can sound amazing and have the oldschool tone to it. Which is what i want, along with a better flow then stock. And to be able to yell back at the annoying stangs on my street if you will lol.

Sooo where did you or would you get the thunder system if you had to again? The thunder system is different then the 80 series, even if it isn't listed right? I'm still thinking magnaflow if i can get this deal from someone for one new. Like you said it's more for the sound and not loudness. Or else i'd have an SLP under there that'd be just as annoying as the stangs.

Thanks for that objective and informative comment.

Nothing wrong with the FM cat-back and sound is completely subjective. I've had the FM and Borla cat-backs, Bassani true duals, and now a Magnaflow 4" race muffler. They all sounded nice for what my car was at the time, and each had their highlighted point of interest (i.e. Borla with adjustible plates, FM was a low muscle-car sound, TD had a unique sound, MF used to cut weight, etc.)

and if anyone thinks that the MF cat back is going to yield any more appreciable power than the FM cat back, is drinking the marketing kool-aid.

when i bought my car the only mod done to it was a blowmaster cat back. i HATED how it sounded. first mod i did to the car was take it off and put lt's and true duals on.

i've run the 40 series mufflers before and they were alright, but the 80 series they use on the f-bodys sounds like complete **** IMO

lol i thought it was funny.

Like you said I know its only a cat-back and any noticeable gains from a catback wont vary regardless of brand. I'm just torn for which to go with to complete my full exhaust set up. Currently i'm thinking magnaflow but yesterday was hooker. So i dont know You might have helped with the magnaflow choice with the weight thing. I'm trying not to weigh this car down at all. No subs in this one

My old trans am had the 80 series.... actually look at this, here's my car

http://youtu.be/jKn17Dz6WXM

and will never do it again. The video over does the flowmaster sound way to much!!! it's like they had a partnership, sucked in person.

Im with him. I like the way the blowmaster sounds. Its tame and deep and throaty on the streets. Get the cutout for the track.

But since your running a catted Y, i suggest the SLP loudmouth. do not get it if you plan on taking the catted y off though. if you plan to get rid of the Cat, go with the magnaflow.

This is also what i was kinda confused about. I plan on doing LT's with a catted Y. the loudmouth wouldn't be annoying / rasp with the cats? I know no doubt with an ORY yes but do the cats make the noticeable difference. I've always wanted the loudmouth, my secret desire
