I had a hard time reading this thread for some reason.

I went to a carb 3 years ago. I org. had a 355 with a GM dual plane intake. which is the only bolt on (with no mods) intake. The car picked up 1.5 tenths. I was running a 850 Holley done by the Carb Shop.

I did get a Vic Jr. done for the motor. Picked up another 2 tenths.

I now am running a 385 with the same 850 carb. this motor made 612 at the crank on a dyno. A 750 would probably be big enough for your setup. If you can try both sizes you might see an improvement with the 850. This car flows 926cfm. I did try a 950 on the dyno. It did make more power and torque. I also tried it on the track. the car actually slowed down with the larger carb.

I run a MSD crank trigger and a MSD billet crank trigger distr.

I did cut the cowl back to the firewall where the carb goes. I can pull the distr. out of the motor without lowering it.

Hope it helps

Sorry for the hijack, but what headers are those? Would they clear regular motor mounts or do they only fit with the motor plate? Are you also running a mid-plate.

i have a 383 LT1, but im boosted.

im running a holley based 750 cfm blow thru

i converted a gen 1 SBC intake myself. i re-drilled the holes, and i made angle washers.

depending on your air cleaner, you could probably do a stock hood

They are custom 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 step headers. I don't believe they would work with the stock motor mounts. I am running a mid plate also. I had the headers built after I did the motor and mid plates.

Got my gaskets today and the only holes that are good are the end ones on each side the middle 4 are not even close...... I will have to fill them in and re-drill them.

i think it was 17deg...... BUT check on that... i made them years ago, so i am not 100% sure.

i put a bolt in the bare head, and used a compass to measure the angle
