Are painted headers a bad choice?
I'm strapped for cash, i have a giant exhaust leak and i plan on doing a full exhaust upgrade. My question is how long will the cheap painted pacesetter headers last. I only need a year max and a cheap fix sometime soon. Any other suggestions?

for even cheaper alot of people have been happy with the stainless ebay headers. that is, if you can handle having to dent the tubes make them fit..
i love mine and doubt if denting them made any real difference. still look awsome to

#1 primary to fit around steering knuckle. also rubs against the body a bit down low on the passenger side but i just left that the way it was. also ive heard that it hits the k member but i didn have that issue since i went tubular at the same time. probly just have to do a lil gring on the k member or dent the tube a bit.... torches aid the denting big time!!! these things are pretty tuff

I ran painted pacesetters for many many years and since I was in a dry climate (so cal) they never rusted too much. The trick is to strip them down to bare metal with aircraft remover, then paint them with this stuff. Try to do the heat curing they recommend and it will turn out better and be more resistant to chips n scuffs when you drop them in. Pacesetters probably have some of the best fitment in my experience with 3 different brands.

Ive had painted pacesetters on my car for prolly 3-4 years. 2 years of driving in midwest winter then another year or so just in summer/fall season. They still work just fine, yeah there rusted but not too bad. mainly below by the collectors. Arent nearly as bad as everyone makes them out to be. It took a while for them to even start rusting.
