did a th400 conversion in a 1995 trans am im building.all the wires that came off the stock shifter in the center counsol.what should i do with them as far as just leaving them unplugged and zip tying them out of my way.does anything need to be spliced together for the neutral and park safety switch?thanks

 

You need to connect those wires to the switch in the new shifter. Or it will start in gear.

or you can splice them together and not try to start the car in gear. Im the only one who even sits in my drivers seat and ive never tried it

 

splice witch ones together? cuz yor right the car will not even try to start right now because there is no signal stating the car is in park or neutral.sure i could play the guessing game but with electronics i have a habit of burnin **** up.old school here and will rebuild a whole house or car but never want to wire it,i call my buddy even if i need a new radio but will build my own engines.thanks

 

Find which terminals on the stock shifter breaks / makes continuity when in P / Gear and those are the wires you need to splice.

Or just look at a wiring schematic.

In short, call your buddy... lol

like i said ,tried to see if anyone knew off hand what to do,i know i can get a test light out or find a schematic.normally if i cannot answer something without making a smart *** coment i do not post.i do not like burning **** up and would rather ask.
