Rotating Assembly
That's a great deal for a forged kit. Any rings or bearings with that? Never heard of Icon pistons before... but as long as we're talking 4340 material for the crank and rods they very likely to hold up to just about anything you throw at them. Biggest difference between the affordable stuff vs the more expensive parts seems to be weight and clearance. The callies magnum cranks for example are more machined in the right spots, much lighter; the compstar crank is same material (not exactly, but both 4340) and i'd bet every bit as strong. On a max hp build a high end rotating assembly will spin quicker, but in terms of quality/strength I think most guys are safe with just about any forged piece. You may find some rods design better clearanced for stroker builds also.
No bearings or rings, but I thought it was still a good price. Also there are 4340 material. They also had Callies light weight forged cranks for $600 IIRC also 4340 material. I thought I have heard a few good things about icon pistons, but I might be wrong. For the cost SRP pistons are a good choice for a guy on a budget.
I just read an ad in CHP about a howards 4340 crank, rods and Icon pistons all forged american steel for $999.00.

I went 6.0, Jpack went 6.125. He put down some monster numbers on a relatively small cam. I am expecting ahair more outta mine due to the cam and I am running a good bit more compression. I hd my neck fused so things have been hurry up and wait for me lol.
I wouldn't go so far as to put a number on it Hp wise (rod length dwell time). What I would use as an examole would be the way a roller rocker reduces friction on the valvetrain. It functions nearly the same, yet it adds a whole lot of incremental benefits that ALSO accomodate and support additional mods. Ask any great engine builder and they will tell you it is in the details
