Sucks that happened, however you need to understand no good things can happen once you get well past your power peak. Reasons being is shifting that high you are actually slowing yourself down and, as you found out, sometimes a stock valvetrain/rotating assembly cannot handle that kind of reciprocation.
With your current daily and future engine builds you should really find out where power peak is in the RPM band and concentrate your shift points around that peak. JMO.

And hopefully you stopped as quickly as possible so you didn't oil down the entire track.

Unhappy ***update****pics of the carnage**

So today my mechanic pulled the piece of scrap that used to be my LT1 out of my car in preparation for my AI headed forged 383; and this is what he found. Also, my crankshaft was chewed all to hell. What's everyone's opinion on what broke first? The rod bolts? (They were stock ) or the rods themselves (also stock) Just curious. FYI...no nitrous was involved...just a cam only LT1 spun to 6600-6700..... It did last over a year and 6000 miles before this happened.

Man I'm still laughing over this, not at you but the title, and end result. I was waiting to see what you ran and you blew the sob up.

I suppose it is pretty funny if you look at it from the beginning of the thread; not the night of fun and enjoyment I was expecting to say the least **** happens... now I got the 383 I always wanted....just in a slightly different way than I imagined...

So anyway...:
