Could be wrong though
It was 10 rwhp for me across the board switching from 1.6 S/A Promags to the Scorpion NSA 1.7's I have now. It's been over 3 years ago since I did the swap and never had an issue. It was quite obvious to me the stock cam prefers the 1.7's.

I would say 10hp is a very fair estimate for 1.7s.

Not only does it increase lift, but in essence makes the lobe more aggressive.

Thanks for posting this. What springs did you go with?

Edit.... I'm not seeing any 1.7s listed for a LT1 on summits website?

The only cheap 1.7 rockers you're gonna find are scorpion junk.

Comp ultra pro mag XD are what im using and are a tad spendy. Crower backset are even more $$ but available in ratios all the way up to 1.9

It's amazing that almost everything is junk unless you personally use it.

10whp should be attainable for a lot of cars with the 1.7s, but if the lift is more than the heads will flow, it will not show the same gains.

So the increased lift that rockers provide over the whole valve event are worthless, the only gains are made from the increased max lift?

No if you didn't have trouble reading you would have seen that I said they wouldn't show the same gain. Ask your dad to read it to you and explain it.

I ran 1.6 ultra pro mags on my old setup. Then when we put my engine in a friends car I bought 1.7 scorps for it. Aside from being heavy, bulky, and aluminum they bottomed out on several of the rocker studs. The ploy locks were cheap and flimsy. They're just a cheap rocker, don't know what else to say. No different than pro form / summit junk.

I have ran the Harland Sharps, I have done them both ways, One set of heads I milled .250 and ran guide plates, or the other way the roller has a groove on each side of the valve.

Theres a sponsor on another site about to piece us together some GOOD roller rocker kits with the backset rockers. Im really wanting to go with them this fall. From what I understand a good set of 1.8 or 1.9 rockers should match the hotcam kit in performance while keeping a stock idle and not having the pain of a cam install.

^^^^^^ you will still need diffrent springs. As for scorpion being junk, well maybe some have had there fair share of issues as with every part on the market its a percent of failure. But i have used the same set of scorpion rockers on 3 or 4 diffrent engine from a mild bolt on car to a nitrous motor and a turbo engine without any issues ever. i then sold them t a friend that now has them on his procharged lt1. over 30k miles and still going strong.

Once again I prefer the Scorpion 1026 1.7's over the 2 set of Promags that I've had. They're more quiet, guaranteed for life, rated for 950 # open pressure and have produced the most power for me. Never had an issue in over 3 years. Everyone has their preferences like the ET streets. My little 235/60-15 BFG has netted me a 1.74-60'. If it works , there is no reason to change. But then again, what works for some may not work for others. All you can do is voice your opinion and hope people can read between the lines.
