Default Steering column and tail light issue. relationship??

ok i just narrowed down my brake light issue tonight. If i have the steering wheel tilted all the way up or one position down from all the way up, my brake lights work. If i have the steering wheel tilted down all the way or one position up from all the way down, they dont work.

What is in the steering column that is related to the brake lights working and not working. What wires are getting messed up or pinched when i tilt the wheel? help.....

Wires for your turn signals and hazard lights go up in the column. Something is probably chafed.

Could be a multifunction switch issue or the connection to it or like shoebox said, in the wires themselves.

alright i'll look into it.

I guess this is this gonna involve taking off the steering wheel in order to actually look in the column for problems?
