Default Under hood tape and tyraps

What are you guys using for tape and tyraps? The electrical tape melts and the Ty-Raps get hard. Maybe this is a Tucson thing?

Well, I need to tie the convoluted tubing so the wires quit coming out for one. And also need to tie all the stuff that is near the headers. And for general repairs.

Another question. What are you guys using to waterproof the connectors? I would assume some kind of high temperature silicon based grease??

Al 95 Z28 going together. If I can figure out where all the f'in hoses go...

The stock seals on the connectors work fine for keeping moisture out. If they are gone then only thing I can think of is to smear a little gasket sealant on them before connecting them, however that can get messy. Zip ties work fine to keep wires away from exhaust primaries.

Perhaps i got shitty zip ties, but they didn't last very long before they melted off. I picked up some wire separators that were thicker plastic and they deformed some from the heat but didn't melt like the zipties.

They must be far too close to the exhaust. What exactly are you trying to tie down?

I'm not the OP but, I have LTs and was trying to keep the plug wires away from the headers. They were about as far away as they could be and still melted.

I was just tossing that out there, no doubt zip ties can be used but I gave up on them melting lol.

Found some 3M high temperature electrical tape today. Rated to 211 degrees. I'll try it. Going to try to find real Ty-Raps and see if they are made in China like the others.

Any harnesses that are ran by headers or other heat sources I wrap in this HVAC tape. In regards to spark plug wires, they are kind of expensive but invest in the heat sleeve things you can get.

Can get the heat sleeves in an 8 pack on a certain auction site for around $27

I guess its for heating and air conditioning systems, its metallic like, my brother jokingly calls it tin foil but the stuff works so I don't care.

If you really have electrical harnesses THAT close to the exhaust, and can't route them any further away, you can buy metal zip ties.....

I'm curious to know what harness it is. If it's the cluster on the passenger side it can be routed between primaries 1 and 3 straight down through the motor mount and back. IIRC that harness contains the O2 sensors for that side, the PCM ground and starter wires. That way the cluster has plenty of space from any exhaust primary.

Still no burnt wires so I don't care what holds them.

I just ziptied my passenger side harness to the A/C hardlines there to keep them off the header, and I wrapped them in that tape. Eh I might take a picture tomorrow if I'm that motivated.
