Default another problem thread

Okay just fired up my camaro, which has been down for a year or so. My problem is when its running every so often it kinda pops coming out of the exhaust. It does it at all rpms. I'm thinking it may be a exhaust valve sticking. Any opinions? Thanks

Confirm your spark plug wires are going to the correct plugs.

I wouldn't think it was that as it is not consistant nor is it really often. It is only every few seconds at idle and speratic when it happens. However I will confirm they are correct this afternoon.

You may have an air leak into the intake plenum from a dry gasket/seal.

Now that may be a possibility for sure. I took out the donky dong on the elbow and I'm not sure I sealed it good! So the mass air would read less air than its getting right? How would that cause the popping? Lean?

Nevermind. I thought I read it was popping from the intake. Popping out the exhaust I'd check ignition. Your plug wires may be dried and cracked...

Plugs and wires have less that 150 miles on them and show no signs of arcing anywhere

Ignition could be poor. Gas maybe bad?
As far as backfiring from intake, yes most likely it is from a lean condition, however not really prevalent unless leak is under vacuum in the plenum rather than intake from the TB.

Wasn't much old gas in it. Lol didn't make it to the gas station! Lol could be contaminated though.

I am thinking it's simply poor ignition. Put new gas in, replace the plugs and see what happens.

where would you start looking at the ignition? The dreaded opti? I replaced the coil befor I parked it last year. Being it is only popping a little do you think it might just be the cap and rotor?

Do what he said, check the plug wires for proper firing order. It's easy to swap adjacent plug wires. Don't just assume it's right.
