Mallory 685 help please

I hook the box up today using the MSD adapter harness, I am 99.7% sure that the box is installed correctly, yet the car won't start. I disconnect the box and she fires right up. I reconnect the box....nothing. I leave the box connected and use the bypass harness and she fires up. The start retard is set at .01, I have played with it all the way up to 10* of start retard. What am I missing?

Its either wired wrong, you have a power source supplying the box that gets interrupted when cranking, or the box is bad.

I ran the constant source staight to the battery, I'll go back over the wiring.... How can I test to see if the box it self is bad?

Don't know of a way, other than the car not starting
How did you cross over the wires between the Mallory colors, and MSD harness?

black.......black
green .....white
yellow......orange

Maybe the box is bad. Wouldn't be the first time I received a bad ignition part....opti, icm, coil, 1 bad msd plug wire in a set....
