Speedo Down! And only one gear?
Speedo Down! And only one gear? Hey guys. Ive come to seek your knowledge with yet another problem of mine.
So I was driving down the road when suddenly my speedometer goes out. Its reading no mph but my tech is working fine. So I know its not the gauges. And on top of that it will only run in first gear (95 Firebird 4l60-E). By the way its been a off and on problem. Seems to do it more often when its warm.
But anyway I'm pretty sure its the speed sensor going out. Where is this thing located? Is it on the trans or could the abs speed sensor be the issue. I'm kinda confused about where this particular sensor may be.
Any and all help would be welcome.

what he said, but if the pcm doesn't know your speed then it won't shift which is why you're stuck in 1st gear. Speedo sensor is in the tailshaft of your transmission on the drivers side.
