You probably have air in the system. Rum it a while, then shut it off and bleed it using the two bleeders coming off the waterpump. These cars are a pain to bleed.

^ This. Or...
The thermostat is stuck closed.
You have little to no coolant in the system.

Check out SHBOX.com. It has a lot of useful information, for noobs and veterans.

How hot does it get? Does the coolant push out of the reservoir...are your fans Turning on? I would definitely start with the t-stat and air like they said....

1) Air in system.
2) Low coolant level.
3) Fans not turning on
4) Stuck thermostat in closed position.
5) Broken water pump.

That's my $0.05

Okay, it's been a while but i have replaced the sending unit on mine...sometimes when the motor gets to hot it kills the sensor Mine is on the right side of the block ...it screws right in, there is a little wire assembly connector thing that you take off first...you will need to put something under the block to catch any fluid that leaks out when you take the sending unit out....

I would also check the relay for the fans....There should be two bleeder valves, unless you bypassed the heater core or something...I found this pic on the internet...can you see the valve coming off of the housing for the t-stat on top of the water pump? The other one is right on top of the part of the assembly with the three compressed hoses on it...Hope this helps!!

There are 2 bleeders. One on the T-stat housing, one on a heater hose.
The sensor that controls the fan is NOT on the side of the HEAD . It's on the front of the water pump, on the bottom right side. The sensor on the head is for the temp gage only.

Yeah, he said the gauge wasn't working, i probably called it the wrong thing, but i showed him the right part to replace if the temp gauge is not working
