Default 24x conversion question

So it seems like the cool thing to do the 24x conversion so I'm going to be joining the club. I have a question about the PCM. Does it matter which Ls computer you go with? Like if I were to find a PCM from a truck versus a Camaro or t/a would that work? I'm obviously trying to do this on a budget bu someone local to me has a ls1 computer n harness along with the 24x conversion kit all for $1025 and I'm trying to see if that is really a good deal or not. Keep in mind I'm not running A/C, P/S, ABS, I deleted pretty much all that I could on my own if that matters or not for harness purposes. If I have the Ls wiring harness do I have to do any re-pinning?

jason, has to be a 411pcm, the service # has to end in 411. 12200411, you can get them for $100 or less. I bought mine directly from EFI when I got the 24x.

You can find the 12200411 PCM on ebay. I found mine for less than $75.

You can use any 1999-2000 PCM (GM# 09354896) or 2001-2002 PCM (GM# 12200411). As far as the harness is concerned, these PCMs are identical. The 12200411 is easier to source and typically less expensive because it was used in so many more vehicles than the early 09354896 PCM.

The 1997 Corvette or 1998 Corvette/Camaro/Firebird LS1 PCM could be used, but the harness is pinned differently.

You could even use the 2004-2006 Corvette/GTO E40 ECM...very undesirable and completely different connectors on the harness at the ECM. Would also require a TCM if 4L60E or 4L80E transmission.
