4.10's and nitrous

Ive owned quite a few built ls1 cars, boosted, hci nitrous, etc. Ive decided to go backward and purchase a very clean, 1 owner, 95 z28 m6  The car currently has "106mm" custom throttle body, magna flow catback, k&n cai, dyno tune. I have done a good bit of research on the ol LT1. Basically what I am looking at is 3:73's or 4.10's and a tnt 75 shot. Im not sure which one since I will be spraying. But I do love 4.10's on the street in a m6 car. It has 17x10 rears. 275 BFG's. I will be semi daily driving the car. I still have the tbss if driving gets to be too much. I also have decided when the lt1 goes I will be doing the ls swap. I love the look of this car much more than the ls look. This is why I am buying it. Any suggestions...times expected with the mods listed? Thanks

75 shot is for girls, do at least a 125..... get a GOOD converter, best bang for the buck. If you plan on driving on the interstate at all go 3.73 if you dont care where your gas goes get 4.10.

i have 3600 stall, 4.10 and a 200 shot on 0ne of my lt1 cars and its a beast. love the color of your car but hate the wheels. What color TBSS? i have a silver one with LT headers intake and custom tune, runs great and i love it. i wanted a white one but could not find one to save my life. but silver will do for now

Nice car. Get a hood. And that's exactly why I bought mine. Better looks and sound. Tho I don't know if I could ever go LSx in this car.

Personally I'd do a 150-180 wet shot. 4.10s in a 10 bolt with nitrous is pushing it. I wouldn't.

I have ran nothing but tnt 100 shot on all my ls1 cars. I didnt want to push the ol lt1 to the limit...but hey if the guys on here are saying go for it then I am all game! As for the TBSS it is completely stock. It is silver as well, and fully loaded with all options. I considered modding it, LT's,n20,stall. But in the end it is still a truck...kinda hard to go fast when your hauling around 5k pounds. I love it though. I can load up the family and take off...RELIABLY.

150 tnt shot? Isnt that a bit much for a lt1? My lsx swap may come sooner than planned in that case.

Just run the FPSS, colder plugs, window switch and retard the timing and you should be fine. Just check the plugs before increasing the shot. With all that I'd do 150 on mine no question. Then I'd work up to around 180.

gregrob Aug 15, 2011 03:49 PM

Lmao @ 150 being too much for an LT1...

It has to be done properly, then let em hang.

deff start low and work your way but imo anything under a 125 is poo.... get colder plugs, pull timing, and make sure you have the safety items(window switch, fpss...ect)..i wouldn't hesitate to spray a 175 or 200 if need be

gregrob Aug 15, 2011 04:26 PM

FPSS is garbage. Don't bother

StrokerLS1 Aug 15, 2011 05:05 PM

Every kit I have run has been properly installed with all the safety equipment and tune. Im not just going to throw a cheap summit racing dry shot on the car...I will have to look up what n2o plus mild bolt on lt1's run.

...I want to see this 108mm throttle body...

gregrob Aug 15, 2011 05:56 PM

54x2 = 108. I'll bet that's what it is.

I'm pretty sure this is the case. All the work was done by stealth engineering in l.a. back in 1995...I'm sure back then the aftermarket scene was still pretty new with lt1s

trilkb Aug 15, 2011 06:12 PM

thats what i was thinking, but who calls it that lol.

ah well, and yea im with everyone else, if you tune and spray correctly id say a 125 would be no issue. Hear alot of stories about 150's and then people rebuilding engines lol. Guess it just depends how stout she still is and if its done correctly.

I agree. It all depends on how much she has left. Luckly the car has been adult owned and driven its whole life and being a one owner helps. My last "one owner" car was a ls1 car ran 13.08 at 108 bone stock. It was owned by an old lady who drove it back and forth to school. Bare bones m6 car. Lol. Anyway, ill do a compression test. So far that car has great oil pressure and a maintenance history that would make you sick. Money spent at the dealer for everything. Not that this means much but at least I know its been baby'd

Whats your view or experience with them?

I've had them cause the solenoids to pulse and chatter. Im not the only one.

StrokerLS1 Aug 15, 2011 08:39 PM

...so my magical "106mm" tb, cai, cat-back, 4.10's, 150 tnt kit, a driving s.o.b. on street tires, and a "nitrous tune" should go? 12.20's? 115? Lets say i cut a 1.9 60ft and spraying second..clutch holding of course. Is this out of the question?

coolmanvette75 Aug 15, 2011 10:36 PM

Thats should be doable. I remember reading on here of a full bolt on m6 car that ran like 11.6 on a 150 wet shot...

96lt1m6 Aug 15, 2011 11:37 PM

My car in sig has gone 11.4 on a 150 hit
A friends car 94 went 11.33 on a 175 hit

I feel 4.10s bolt ons with stock size tires and 125-150 could put you in 5th gear going across the stripe. 3.73s would be better.
