Determine what you expect out of the car first. Be honest about use, budget and goals. For most guys doing a modest build, the 503 is hard to beat.

Most people are going to tell you to call LE or AI, idk what you want to do with the car but the cc503 would be a good place to start.

i see that you were originally looking at the hotcam. everyone has said its outdated yet it is but still makes good power when matched properly. the best cam imo for stock heads is LE's 223/230 or 224/230 110 or 112lsa. Basically a revamped version of the CC503 and will make 5-10rwhp more with better cam characteristics. IMO this is one of the best stock headed cam for most applicatons. Even passed Ontario emissions on a base tune

Spray it. best bang for buck and you dont even have to open up the motor to do it. I was running 7.90 with 3.73 a4 and stock lt1 with CAI only,2800stall and shift kit. Try that with a 503 cam.

A mail-order tune would cost in the neighborhood of $150, while a dyno tune would be double to triple that.

Unless you're looking to squeeze out every last bit of HP a mail-order tune would be fine.

I use www.pcmforless.com with good results, but there are plenty of other LT1 tuners to choose from (try a search). You'll get mixed reviews from just about all of them, so choose wisely.
