The only issue with Eagle have been tolerances. Perhaps it's no longer an issue with new cranks, however in the past there have been many complaints about the snout being undersized and the pilot hole being oversized as well as having to add metal for balance.

I just finished my 396 build and from everything I was told, I wouldnt have been able to spray as big of a shot on your current build proposal as I wanted(300-400). So I decided to just build it once and be done. Cost a lot more, but its gonna be a nice piece of mind come Sept. 4th. I went with a callies splayed main caps, Callies dragonslayer crank, callies ultra billet rods w/ ARP 2000, and diamond pistons. As far as I know, I didnt have any filling and I was told it should take a 300 shot all day long! Good luck!

Am I the only one who sees a conflict between 6.0" rods and 300-400 worth of spray with this stroke?

I don't think a lot of people realize how much 300-400 shot is and what kind of parts it takes to spray that much safely.

If you're going to spray that much, you should definitely run a shorter rod.

Stay away form the L19 bolts and you shouldn't have any issues getting the Eagle rods to fit, I have a set of ARP2000's in my 396. I didn't need any fill, since my 95 vette block had very little shift.

Maybe people should talk specific PN Eagle rods. Well known that some of their offerings have terrible block and cam clearance, if you are using one that did fit well post the PN.

A 6.0" rod with that stroke means the piston is really short, no room to get the top ring down out of harms way. Fine for NA but with boost or spray a little more meat above the top ring is more forgiving.

if you already have a fully forged 358, why do you want to do a 396? your sig says youve been 11's with a 100 shot. you still have a long way to go with what you already have, imo.
