Drain the oil, cut the filter open and have a look. If there is not a lot of metal in there it's possible you have a **** oil filter on it, that is plugging up the system. I ran a Purolator on my new motor for the first startup- big mistake. It acted like a bottleneck.
Get yourself a NAPA Gold filter 1060 (iirc part number), and some 10w30. I've heard of guys picking up 5lbs just by switching to this filter. Hopefully you haven't done damage to your motor.

When you add a mechanical gauge you use a different port than the factory sensor (the one located above the oil filter as mentioned earlier in this thread). You don't touch the factory sensor.
And get it out of your head that the "Check Gauges' light is causing your car to stall. It is coming on as a result of you having low oil pressure at low RPMs when the car is about to stall.
