trans cable ball/socket end
trans cable ball/socket end I got a new/used transmission cable from a member on here. Finally get around to installing it and the end that goes onto the transmission isnt popping on. Its either broken or the wrong size.
Does anyone know if the ends come off so i can switch out my old one with the new one?
Something this simple shouldnt be this stupid lol. Id resort to force but i dont want to break anything and waste the 30$ part i bought.

I have a 93 TA and my cable froze up on me 6 mo ago. So i called the dealer and ordered a new cable ($70). The new cable came in and i went home put it in and the ball on the trans was to small...called the dealer they said that it said in the catalog that when u are switching to the new cable u had to change the shift ball on the trans (one nut easy to do) but if they had told me this i would not have wasted extra days waiting with a down car. U are going to have to find out from under the car if it is too big or to small of a shift ball.

If it is the right size u should be able to push and pop it on, the retainer is built into the end and it should spread out to accept the ball...if not u got the wrong shift ball, the ends are not interchangable.
no its to small. Need the larger ball. The bitch of it is i kind of thought it just had to go on further for it to snap on, so the very small lip on the outside i cut off. Hope to god it still snaps on with that being gone. Sure as **** didnt change anything for me though!
