Hotcam goes 10's...

...with some extra motivation from Lloyd Elliott and Nitrous Outlet :)

very sweet, congrats!

Stock short block going 10's is awesome...still optispark too? if so, way to represent the lt1 crowd!

nomoneyz Sep 29, 2011 11:39 PM

That is freaking sweet. Just curious, how much power are you making without spray. I have a hotcam kit that I was going to sell cause I wanted more power for my swap build. If I could just do a set of nice heads then maybe I won't.

94-lt1 Sep 29, 2011 11:51 PM

congrats on the time

Puck Sep 30, 2011 12:00 AM

Way to go, congrats!

That's one hell of a sleeper .

Formula383 Sep 30, 2011 09:15 AM

Hell yeah! Congrats!

3rdgenvert Sep 30, 2011 09:27 AM

Way to represent the Hot Cam! I have a hot cam only with spray (Nitrous Outlet is the only way to go!) and went 10.61 at this years LTX Shootout. That was with stock heads as well.

jesup16 Sep 30, 2011 10:39 AM

what kind of suspension work?

1badzee Sep 30, 2011 10:45 AM

+1 Suspension and rough estimate on weight? Congrats by the way, that's awesome!

AChotrod Sep 30, 2011 11:55 AM

Congrats Joe!!!!! If I remeber right you made like 360 or 380 with your LE1s and the hot cam?

the_merv Sep 30, 2011 11:57 AM

Good movin car..:)

Hey Joe

congrats again on getting into the 10's with that tank and maybe we can see a little better # before the season is over :)

Back about 10 years ago I was impressed when I saw a 1996 Camaro with a 396 (unknown heads), cc306 cam, t-56, drag radials, and 150 wet kit running 11.20's @ 125 in crap air. Times have certainly changed.

Nice to see the Hotcam get some love.

Dave357LT1 Sep 30, 2011 12:49 PM

125 shot?

jlpz Sep 30, 2011 01:58 PM

.62N jet Im thinking it's a 175 shot..Good numbers either way..congrats.

Shon Herron Sep 30, 2011 02:48 PM

About time, 355 LT4 H/I/HOt cam went 11.19 on 100 shot....way back...

Well, yeah - nitrous changes everything.

Yes, GM optispark. I'm on my second one, but we replaced the first one just for the hell of it when we did the cam swap probably 9 years ago. I've never had a single problem with an optispark.

With the stock transmission and Vig 3600 still in the car (otherwise, as it sits today), last November the car dynoed 379.82/344.52 on motor at Speed Inc.

Wow, damn, now that's impressive. I went 11.249 cam only with spray (62N).

I have quite a few goodies under the car:

Strange SA w/ 300# springs (front)
Madman AFCO DA w/ BMR springs (rear)
Spohn chassis mount torque arm
UMI drag bar
UMI weld-in relocation brackets
UMI double adjustable panhard (poly)
BMR double adjustable control arms (poly)
BMR weld-in subframes
15x4/15x10 Centerline Telstars w/ 275/60/15 M/T radials

I've been as low as 1.42 with the stock transmission and Vig 3600 last fall, but to me, the new Yank SS3600 feels a lot different and I need some time to figure out what it likes. Last weekend the best 60' was 1.499 and I'm still playing with the rear shocks.

Weight wise, heavy. Full weight, minus front swaybar, ABS, and whatever Strange drag brakes on the rear shave off. Otherwise, everything else is still there (including A/C) and I'm 6'4" 280 lbs., so if I had to guess, I would say close to 3800 lbs. raceweight with a 15 lb. nitrous bottle, NANO bottle, and a half tank of gas. Does that sound about right?

Thanks Mike. Close, 379.82 at Speed Inc. (obviously Jim did the tune) :) but they are LE2's.

Thanks again Larry. I would love to. Maybe if I'm a really good boy at home for the next couple of weeks :) I might be able to sneak out for a morning run to Byron.

I think that's a pretty good time with only a 100 shot on a just a 355.

Yes it does. Hotcam isn't going to blow your hair back on motor, but it seems to like the spray.

Thanks again everyone.

355z28 Sep 30, 2011 03:42 PM

Congrats on the 10 sec slip. Weve only been talkin about this for what it seems 2 years now. Way to go. There's some left in it if you've been faster on your 60'

Austin
