What are you currently running for an exhaust system on it?

Excuse my stupidity but how does a smaller stall affect the dyno numbers? I thought a tighter stall would actually help.

Correct me if I'm wrong but because it's got a 306 it makes power torque further up the rpm band and wont have much torque in the lower rpm range and HP is Torque over time so if it makes less torque at 2200 then at say 2800 or 3000 it will affect the over all hp number on a dyno.

I don't know man. I don't see a stepped header doing all that much over the current long tube for the price. EWP I could see freeing up a couple of pony's. Getting the tune right is going to make the world on that setup. My first tune sucked. Got a second done by Madtuner and it made mine come to life.

I don't plan on changing anything until the tune is sorted out and done. Then im going to add EWP and see the gains, then the kooks. After that I will be removing the 306 for an le2 custom grind. These are all things me and elliot have talked over to get the car into the 440rwhptune range.

The same grind he uses in his car.

A bigger stall will show less peak hp if anything on the dyno... but it might show a increase tq on the hit. Its been proven time after time the stock stall will be the most generous on the dyno.

Yes a tight "efficient" stall such as stock would help numbers on the dyno, but hurt et's at the track. stalled a4's are not dyno queens. ABA383 went 11.0 on a stalled a4 383, but it only dyno'd around 375whp

Once the converter is locked then the stall speed does not matter so much. Yes different stalls will show slightly different numbers. But a stall is most beneficial at the track and et. If I remember correctly my car only differed 10hp or so when I swapped a cheaper converter out for the circle D yet I shaved almost 1 sec off my time. And my other car gained a little over. 5 sec with the yank 4000 vs the stock stall swap.
