Default tpi intake

I know the big thing now is doing the lsX lid conversion. I know ppl are having great results because of the direct air flow path. I was wondering since fitment with stock hood requires some cutting if the intake from a tpi would work. Just a thought I had here at work. I need to go look my car now to see if its possible now. The tpi intake is a little slimmer then the lsx air lib.

you're talking about the TPI "Y" looking intake that goes over the radiator?? Dont bother.. if you ever get a chance to look into the intake (I have 2 right here from my TPI car) you'll see they are squished down and barely flow enough for the TPI, people in the SoCal Board over on Thirdgen.org.. are cutting off the snout (the part that goes to the throttle body) and enlarging them with molded plastics to combat the overall area of flow.. they dont have a big open "mouth" like the LS1 lids have, they have a 3" inlet that right after, gets drastically reduced.. i can take pictures and show you what i mean.

Besides which, there are 2 parts to this system.. the upper intake and lower air box... you wouldnt be able to use them because of the angle of the LT1 radiator support.. that and you have the windshield washer bottle in the way..

I, however, have converted my thirdgen to a LT1, ditched the TPI airbox and went with a simple cone filter.. the difference was quite noticable..
