Default Help!!!

I recently got a 93 z with a 383. it has the stock ten bolt with 4.10 gears and tonight i snatched second and it popped really hard. And as i was going through the curves it was jumping really hard and then i stopped and took off and it was like it was missing teeth in the rear end it was jumping horribly. The guy i got the car from said the tranny was built but idk how much i can believe that. any ideas on what i should get ? on a reasonable budget ? thanks

You're going to have to pull off the cover and see what went. If the car still moves chances are you blew the spider gears in the posi and not the ring and pinion.

Also, to eliminate the chances of breaking another rear you need to ditch the 10-bolt altogether. Being on a "budget" unfortunately isn't doing you any good.

Budget = another rear from a junkyard with less gear & no snatching..

Stock 10 bolt on a 383 is the weak link, I'm going to have mine rebuilt with the kit SLP had to beef it up a lil . I'm not trying to cut corners just dont want to drop at least a grand on a 12 bolt right now
