I would highly suggest you contact Chad Kennedy at 859-258-9131. His sight is Kennedyperformance.com

He is actually in Lexington (1 hour drive) and does top knotch engine work. Tell him Bill sent you.

Price's Machine Shop in Shepherdsville KY. They are old school but do good work. They did all the machine work for the 383 I built in this thread.

This block was cleaned, bored and honed with a torque plate, all new cam bearings, decked, checked line bore,...etc. the works.

Balanced rotating assembly to within .5 gram, with stock balancer and flywheel.

I have been around this shop since I was a kid.

Also Mattingly's Machine Shop in Bardstown does good work but they are kind of high.

Thanks guys for the help! I'm thinking I have a rod knocking. The car sounds like a beast though. It was wrecked when I got it so I've been fixing the body up on it and all that. I've yet to even drive it. I was going to just get another engine from a 96 and put in my 94 TA. But I read the shafts in the 4l60e's vary from 94-95 and 96-97.

The 60E did not change until the LS1's. There is no exterior difference from 93-97. Any year LT1 will bolt up.

Well, that's what I thought. But i did a quick google search and came across that misleading information on another f body site. Thanks for chiming in. So would you guys suggest on just getting it rebuilt to know everything is good or buy a used lt1 with around 110k miles for cheap?

I've heard that too. 93 is different in that it is not electronic, so that wouldn't work. I think the hard parts are the same, though.

This is correct, the 93 doesn't use the 4L60e, it uses the 700r4, basically the non-electronic predecessor to the 4L60e.

In the Louisville area I have heard from many people that Knieriem Racing Engines over off Preston and Blue Lick....aka Harry's Auto Parts is a good shop as well as Auburndale Machine shop on Southside drive. I have used them a few times as well.

I have a 4-bolt main block that I want to build a 396 with eventually and will be taking my block and assembly to one of the above whenever the time comes.

Thanks everyone for the help. I think I may just go with a used lt1 for cheap so I have extra cash for long tubes and a nice cam
