speed density to mass air conversion?

Default speed density to mass air conversion?

My firend is looking in to getting a 93 z and we want to know if you benifit changing the car to mass air. If so how hard is it to do??? thanks

There is absolutely no HP to gain from it, it is simply a different method of measuring and calculating incoming air. You would need a later model PCM, the MAF sensor itself and quite possibly the entire wiring harness.
Speed density is more versatile and takes to modifications easier.
You'll find more ppl converting or programming out their MAF sensor in favor of speed density calculations. Try to talk him out of it. The return is very small if any the 10 hp variation of later years was due to a dual catylictic exhuast setup, not becuz of MAF.

Hey Mike, from some experience I would not waste the time or money converting. The speed density works just fine with a tune. My car is speed density with over a .600 lift cam and 250+ duration and it has no problems. When I built the car I was gonna change over also but seeing the result on just motor I trashed that idea.
