Question AS&M header installation Q?

so im on the process of installing my headers and i would like to now what you guys recommend for the y pipe???

i was thinking on running a single cat style like 94-95 lt1s so when the smog test comes i would be ready.and then remove the cat and make it into a straight pipe.. would i pass the smog test with one cat??? or is it better to run a dual set up?

also i had in mind the random tech dual cat y pipe but im thinking that that wouldn't pass the smog test???

what would be the best custom setp im open to any ideas.....

I have the single cat version in my garage collecting dust...

Id say do the single cat 'y' so you can easily swap from catted to straight pipe easily. As far as I know, Random Tech no longer makes the dual cat y-pipes for these headers unless you can find one used...

It may flow better but on a dyno I doubt you'd see more than 2-3hp if that...

Not knowing about California emissions laws or anything, but if you go through all the trouble to put a cat onto the car (especially if it is a high flow) I wouldn't bother with the straight pipe. You will most likely not be able to tell the difference in performance and then you have to worry about getting harassed by the man. Not to mention the car will stink to boot. Just my two cents and something to think about.
