Can anyone confirm that a bad pcm could be causing the issues I have talked about? I do not know this mechanic and want to make 100% sure that this is my issue.

they usually run about $70 online and make a huge difference in performance. idk how tuning them is or if they would come pre tuned. that would be where the real money comes in.

Turned out to be a variety of issues. The opti was completely corroded inside. And the spark plug wire OHMs where way off. i dont think the wires where right for the car. they where way to long.

New Water pump
wires
plugs
opti

Car is running great.

Glad to see you got it fixed. Did you do it or the mechanic? That would be hella expensive at a garage.

i was forced to take it to a shop. I have another thread all about that. I think the shop had a really hard time diagnosing my car, and ended up only charging me for parts and minimal labor. I got luuuuuuuuuuuuuuucky.

And another one bites the dust! Gotta love that optispark technology Funny how people on this forum get bent out of shape if somebody blames the opti....especially the ones still on their original GM unit by some miracle. I'm on opti number 3 now after 14 years. Bottom line...the opti IS the LT1's biggest weakness and should be one of the first things to troubleshoot.
